Interior Highlight: Capstone at Centerra, Loveland, CO
People and culture of Loveland, Colorado Honored at the capstone at centerra
For The Capstone at Centerra Assisted Living and Memory Care, familiarity is a key element of the community’s success. Throughout the design process, the local history and atmosphere of Loveland, CO, was kept front and center. The result is a stunning new assisted living and memory care community that pairs a rustic agrarian atmosphere with timeless simplicity, forming a love letter to its hometown.
Extra care was taken in the interior design to honor the people who built the city of Loveland and its surrounding culture. Wood beam motifs and saw-cut wood flooring pay homage to its lumber shipping industry. A gallery in the upstairs hall showcases local photography from hikes along the Rocky Mountains. A handmade live-edge table with a river design serves as the centerpiece in the dining room named after the Big Thompson River. Several rooms in the community carry the names of local heroes, from beloved simple-farmer-turned-founder David Barnes to dedicated and passionate suffragette Albina Washburn, to respected Native American peacemaker Chipeta, and specific furniture and artwork pieces in each room were chosen to honor their namesakes.
The Washburn Room: This elegant living room pays tribute to Albina Washburn, a famed Coloradan suffragette and women’s rights advocate. A variety of comfortable seating options makes an inviting space with a more intimate setting nestled in the heart of the common areas. Historic images of Colorado suffragettes are mixed with vintage photos of wildflowers on the wall, bringing an heirloom feel to the gathering space. The double-sided stone fireplace serves as both the centerpiece and divider between the neighboring Great Room and the Washburn Room. Its warmth evokes the comfort of days gone by when the hearth was the central element of the American home.
Uncle Dave’s Bistro: Perfect for happy hours, live music, and bringing people together over a good meal, the central bistro is a tribute to Loveland’s founder David Barnes. Affectionately called “Uncle Dave” Barnes, was an early farmer and entrepreneur who donated 80 acres of his wheat fields for the original settlement of the town of Loveland. Warm golden tones provide a nod to the wheat fields in the dining chair fabrics and the window treatments. Classic farmhouse kitchen decor flanks a custom wooden sign above the bar as residents enjoy wine, beer, and sarsaparilla together.
Exterior courtyards with mountain views
The courtyards offer a range of activities for outdoor-loving residents, such amenities as a dog park, garden planters, and a large gathering table to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. With an outdoor grill and fireplace, residents can enjoy a neighborhood cookout with a view of the Rocky Mountain range. Whether they are practicing their swing on the two-hole putting green or relaxing by the cozy fireplace, residents can find the perfect place to relax and take in the great outdoors.
luxury amenities
Special destination spaces throughout the building add unique areas for dedicated resident activities. The Vibrant Life Center provides a colorful space with easily mobile tables for crafts, games, and bingo, while an onsite beauty salon brings a touch of luxury with airy colors, high-end details, and gold fixture accents. The Majestic Theatre with custom stained-glass cabinet doors, with colors drawn from the surrounding natural landscape, provides a backdrop to formal events or religious services that when slid open reveal a large television for movies or presentations.
From the color palette to the artwork, every part of the Capstone at Centerra reflects the vibrant city that its residents call home. Pi Architects is thrilled to be part of the beloved culture of Loveland as it continues to grow and make new history.
