BCS Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Gets a Facelift
Pi Architects announces the completion of The Arbors Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation redesign for Baptist Community Services in Amarillo, TX. Pi services brings together
architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture as a collaborative team to reposition Arbors as a community resource.
Highlights of this 7,000 sq. ft. project includes a new first class physical therapy gym furnished with the latest equipment. Interior renovations provide upgrades to the reception area, the great room, the private discovery room, and the physical therapy lounge. The traditional interior red and gold color palette now gives way to a more modern transitional style. According to Charla Goss, Director of Pi Interior Design, “the
new healing color palette based on the Amarillo prairie and canyons in soft greens, yellows, oranges and earthy purples creates a fresh and airy feel that promotes healing.” Bryan Warne, Director of Pi Landscape Architecture notes the need to improve the aesthetic for an aging site by incorporating several new program areas for underutilized exterior spaces.
Adjacent to the new therapy gym, the previously empty lawn now offers a therapy garden with challenge surfaces, a ramp, and stairs. In addition, residents now have an entry plaza to enjoy a
fountain, several benches, and the opportunities to visit with others as they pass. According Bryan, "the new children’s playground gives residents the ability to
gather and enjoy the spiritual, emotional, and social benefits of being outside, visiting, and playing with their families and friends.”
The development team includes Pi Architects, Baptist Community Services, Fratto Engineering, Texas Design Interests, and OJD Engineering. The Pi design team looks forward to celebrating continued success with Baptist Community Services.
